Fighting The Bosses on Immigration Issues
SEMINAR FOR RMT REPS & ACTIVISTS
Tuesday 23rd September
15.30 – 18.00 Boardroom, Unity House
RMT’s battle to achieve acceptable pay and conditions for cleaners has highlighted difficult issues of immigration law. The bosses are using these extreme reactionary laws to exploit workers. In some cases they claim workers have no employment rights - even after years of work.
Certain cleaning companies suddenly stopp paying our members until they “prove” they have “correct” National Insurance numbers. Yet they were happy to employ these members for years while deducting tax and national insurance.
Such practices are not unique to cleaning contract companies. So how can we best advise our members facing these problems? What are the legal issues?
RMT has arranged for leading legal expert Sandya Drew to brief our activists on the current state of the law and our campaign for justice.
Places are limited, please book a seat with EC member Olly New
